Producers of Coronation Street have announced that they are lining Andrew Sachs up for a part in the Northern Soap, as the brother of viewers’ favourite, Norris Cole.

A spokesperson for ITV and Corrie said: “We first started working on a possible character for Andrew Sachs six months ago after learning that he was interested in joining the show. This was brought to our attention by Malcolm Hebden who plays Norris Cole.”

Sachs has been in the public eye lately as the recipient of prank phone calls from BBC employees, Russell Brand and Jonathon Ross. Further to this revelation, ITV added: “There is no connection whatsoever between the Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross saga and our interest in Andrew as this storyline was first discussed in April.”

We’re surprised at how well Norris and Rita are doing in their corner shop ‘Cabin’, especially with the economy slowing down!!
